I developed these color field pieces in 2007 using a digital process that I devised, doing so in homage to one of my favorite artists, abstractionist Gene Davis. Imagine my surprise when just this past year, 2011, I saw that none other than Gerhard Ricther is producing digital pieces of startling similarity. His process is different, but the results are very very similar. Of course, the difference between his pieces and my own are that his prices are many orders of magnitude higher than mine, and his stripes are horizontal, rather than vertical. Great minds think alike?
